DJ Robot Citizen - Index of Radio Shows.
Robot Citizen has hosted 100s of Alternative Music Radio Shows as well as organising & DJ'ing at 100s of Alternative Music Club Nights.
Of most relevance to this website is the radio program titled "S.I.N.G.E.D."
It's pronounced singe-d ... as in meaning "lightly burnt" ... a silly tongue-in cheek reference to the dark alternative music genres the show covered ... The title was derived from the first letters of the genres of: Synth-pop/punk/rock/wave - Industrial - (Power) Noise - Goth/Gothic - Elektro/EBM/Electronica - Darkwave.

The 1-hour radio show aired weekly on Community Radio Station 2XX 98.3 FM; Canberra, Australia. In the later years it could be heard online. It was co-founded in 2001 by DJ Robot Citizen and put-to-bed in late 2015. For the first 7-8 years it was broadcast on Saturday nights from 7-8pm. For the remaining years it aired on Wednesday nights from 1030-1130pm. The show featured several co-hosts and radio DJs. In the latter years these were most frequently Black Paul, Stephen M & Natalie C. In early years co-hosts included John PW (DJ Noven, the show's co-founder), Dvad9, DJ Lingerie Panic (aka. DJ DeadKitty), Antti & Jay. DJ Citizen (being an earlier moniker) hosted around 130-150 S.I.N.G.E.D. radio programs during the years 2001-2006 and 2010-2015.
The formation of the radio show was inspired by a combination of: i) DJ Citizen's other shows on 2XX (see below); ii) DJ Noven's prior shows on 4ZZZ in Brisbane and his club night called "Corrosion"; and iii) a program that was hosted on 2XX during the mid-90s by DJ Jo C. Her weekly show "Beyond the Grave" presented a wide range of related music. It ceased broadcasting in 1998. She also DJ'd during 1996-1998 at Canberra's Heaven nightclub; alongside "J. Citizen" (Robot's DJ title that was employed then); club nights (that she mostly organised) for the dark alternative gothic industrial music scene; with the titles "Millenium", "Oblivion" and then "NEXUS" - which Robot organised from '98-'00. Further details on those club nights can be found at this page.
Other long-running radio programs hosted by DJ Robot Citizen on Canberra's community radio 2XX station were:
~ The "Sunset" 4-6pm drive-time show; hosted weekly, initially on Thursdays and then on Fridays, for nearly 4 years (2002-2006); around 150-175 programs; featuring a wide range of alternative music genres (like indie, punk, metal, gothic, industrial, electronica) plus doses of retro classic rock (under-recognised album tracks); with occasional feature albums; plus interviews with and live performances by Canberra musicians or touring artists from elsewhere in Australia or overseas; plus occasional interviews with people from community activist organisations. This show's timeslot was later renamed "LocalnLive".
~ The "Beatside" electronic dance music show; 7-9pm Saturdays; hosted for 6 years (1998-2004), once-a-month or twice-per-month; around 100 shows; spanning genres such as acid house, trance, house, drum n bass, trip hop, jungle, psytrance, electronica, electro industrial, electronic body music (EBM), new beat, big beat, synth-pop, futurepop, intelligent dance music (IDM), breakbeat, breakcore, darkcore, dub, chill, techno, hip-house, power electronics etc.; with occasional interviews with Canberran electronic music producers or DJs or artists touring from elsewhere in Australia.
~ The Australian music shows: "Know Your Product" with a focus on independent emerging bands; and "Local Anaesthetic" which specifically showcased Canberra bands & musicians. These were presented once-or-twice-per-month for around 8 years (1996-2004); 5-7pm Saturdays; around 100-150 shows; covering a wide variety of alternative, rock, pop and electronic music genres; with occasional interviews and live performances by Canberran or touring musicians.
Overall that adds up to around 500 radio shows, for those 4 programs, presented under a variety of related DJ titles eg. J. Citizen, DJ Citizen, DJ Robot, DJ Robot Citizen. Multiply that by 1.5 hours (considering most shows were 2 hours and some were 1 hour) and that's around 750 hours (!) of on-air radio presented.
As most of it occurred long before the station had any way of recording shows digitally only a few shows were recorded; to analogue cassette tape.
Playlists for some of those other alternative music radio shows presented by DJ Robot Citizen are hosted on another site.
During the years of 2002-2004 DJ Citizen also acted in various radio station administrative roles such as "Promotions & Marketing" and as "Station Manager"; at community radio 2XX 98.3 FM, Canberra, Australia.
This site also has a page with links to radio shows, programs and podcasts hosted by other DJs within Australia and New Zealand; that focus on this site's central music styles ie. gothic, industrial, EBM, Darkwave, Post-Punk.
