Formed in 1983, originally from Melbourne Australia with several band members from other nations or Australian locations. The Bad Seeds band arose out of the break up of The Birthday Party who began as The Boys Next Door. The main members have been vocalist Nick Cave, guitarist Mick Harvey (from those bands) and guitarist-vocalist Blixa Bargeld (from German industrial band Einstuerzende Neubauten). The Bad Seeds have released more than a dozen albums over 25 years, toured the world multiple times, won many music awards and become very well known, receiving widespread mainstream recognition. With a career spanning 30 years (including books and movies) Nick Cave is probably the most successful, best known, longest-producing artist who came out of the post-punk goth-rock genre. Members of The Bad Seeds have performed in many other notable groups including Einstuerzende Neubauten, Crime & the City Solution, These Immortal Souls, Magazine, The Triffids, The Wreckery, The Necks, The
Dirty Three and Grinderman.
