Formed 1980: Foetus is the main project of J.G. Thirlwell - composer, producer, recording artist and performer from Melbourne, Australia; one of the great pioneers & most enduring artists of the industrial music genre; with more than 30 sets of recordings released and still producing. He was based for several years in the United Kingdom and is now based in New York USA. He has been involved with a huge number of recordings with many well-known artists. Along with the many name variations of Foetus his projects include Steroid Maximus, Wiseblood, Manorexia, Flesh Volcano (with Marc Almond of Soft Cell) - all featured below - as well as Clint Ruin, Baby Zizanie, DJ OTEFSU, Garage Monsters and Immaculate Consumptive. He was also involved with early incarnations of Coil (debut album: Scatology) and Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds. He has produced, composed for, recorded with, re-mixed &/or performed with many other artists as diverse as Nine Inch Nails, Kronos Quartet, Nurse with Wound, Lydia Lunch, Nick Cave, Swans, Front 242, The The, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Sonic Youth, Marilyn Manson and many others. Thirlwell presently serves as the soundtrack composer for The Venture Bros on the Cartoon Network.
